Central Coast Council fights to survive

The Central Coast Council faces a $89 million financial crisis and faces suspension by the State Government.

The Central Coast Council directly employs more than 2,000 staff and there is uncertainty whether all staff will be paid this week.

The NSW State Government was yesterday forced to step in to bail the council out. The NSW State Government has suspended Mayor, Lisa Matthews, and all 14 councillors as a result of the budget blowout but must wait seven days to consider any submissions against the suspension.
